Tibetan refers to the people, language and culture of Tibet, a region located in Asia, north of the Himalayas. Most Tibetans hail from the People's Republic of China, though many are also of Indian origin as well. The dominant religion of the Tibetan people is Buddhism, with some communities who also practice Christian and Muslim faiths as well as Bön, an indiginous branch of Vajrayāna Buddhism that is Mongolian in origin.
