An editor is an industry professional in charge of organizing and making corrections to a piece of media. Editors work in the film and television industries as well as printed works including books, comics, magazines and web design. The editing process originates with the idea of the work itself and continues in the relationship between the author and the editor. Editing is, therefore, also a practice that includes creative skills, human relations, and a precise set of methods. In comics, an editor oversees the entire composition of a particular comic project. He or she may answer to a group editor, who in turn answers to the Editor-in-Chief. An editor may also employ assistant editors to carry out various functions such as proofreading and making spelling and/or grammar corrections on scripts.
