"Mage in the Box" is the second issue of the Doctor Strange limited series published under Marvel's Marvel Knights imprint. It is the second chapter of "The Flight of Bones" storyline. It was written by Dan Jolley with additional material supplied by artist Tony Harris and inker Ray Snyder who also provided the artwork for this issue. The issue boasts a painted cover by Tony Harris and it was colored by Matt Hollingsworth and lettered by Comicraft's David Lanphear and John Roshell. It carried a March, 1999 publishing date and a cover price of $2.99 per copy.

- Although the cover copy for this issue identifies the series Doctor Strange: The Flight of Bones, the indicia indicates that it is actually only called Doctor Strange.
- This is the last issue of the series with the current creative team. Beginning with issue #3, the penciling chores are handed over to Paul Chadwick with Jimmy Palmiotti pulling double duty as both editor and inker. The coloring is by Chris Sotomayor and the lettering is by Wes Abbott.
